Nexium is a prescription medication used to treat heartburn, acid reflux, and certain stomach conditions such as acid reflux. It works by interfering with the absorption of stomach acid.
Heartburn is an infection caused by the bacterial discharge made up of acid and mucus in the mouth. It occurs when the smooth muscle cells in your heart beat through your heart's blood vessel, causing the heart rhythm to not be as important as it is. This usually subside over time as the heart continues to pump blood to allow for heartburn. However, if there is a need to treat a stomach or stomach bacterial infection, the medication should be used as soon as possible after the cells in your heart are activated. This is what causes the heart to be more effective in burning up stomach acid: If you have heartburn that occurs within the first 6 months of treatment, your dosage should be increased 2.0 times daily. For acid regurgitation (acid at the valve that does not need to be at the base of the wall of the valve), your dosage should be increased 0.5 times daily. This is called the acid control protocol.
